    HISTORY/MARKS:
In 1890, Herbert Joseph Colclough, ex-mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, founded Colclough China Company.   After great expansion by Colclough Ltd. in the 1930’s, they started to produce the tea and dinnerware that we know today.  They were the first to produce fine bone china for the every day market.  This was sold by the piece eliminating the need for large sets to be purchased enabling many more to afford the fine china.  According to Geoffrey Godden in Encyclopaedia of British and Porcelain Marks, the mark on this trio is his mark #991 which was used 1939-1945.
