    in the EARLY "Gen1" games
    and is

Arcade1Up's main boards and LCD monitors have no support for dimming. Numerous owners have asked for a kit to add this feature to their games, and GeekSales has the answer
    - no more washed-out blacks
    ! Slightly lowering the brightness
    can greatly
improve the contrast of the stock LCD monitor and vastly diminishes light "bleed" at the edges, a problem reported by many owners.
    Installation:
Only a standard Phillips screwdriver and a soft, clean surface are required for installation. No cutting or soldering required - a
    100% "Plug-N-Play" install
    .
The control panel, monitor bezel, and LCD monitor are temporarily removed from the game, but the rest of the cabinet remains intact. The kit can be removed and the game returned to 100% stock at any time.
    "Standard" vs "Deluxe":
Both offer the same adjustment, but "Deluxe" offers easier access.
    Standard
kit 's control knob is accessible from the back side of the monitor - ideal for "set it and forget it" users. (See photos)
    Deluxe
kit includes a control knob on a ~3' lead with quick disconnect for easy disassembly, for external installation through a small ~5/16" (~8mm) hole drilled below the control deck,in the back door, or on the top of the cabinet. Mounting hardware is included.
    What is included?
New backlight power module with dimming support.
Plug-n-Play wiring harness with pre-wired brightness control, ~6" or ~36" long (Std / Dlx).
    Full-color, step-by-step installation guide.
    Frequently Asked Questions:
Will it work with my modded Arcade1Up cabinet using a... (Pandora's Box / Raspberry Pi / VGA+HDMI converter / "ETAPrime" mod / 60-in-1 JAMMA board / etc)?
This kit exactly replaces the original power supply for the LCD backlights, via the 6-pin/3-wire (red/yellow/black) cable at the rear of the monitor assembly.
If your video board works with the A1Up monitor, it will work with this kit installed
    - including HDMI/VGA converter boards that connect a RaspPi/JAMMA board/etc to the original monitor.
    Will I notice a difference?
Some Arcade1Up monitors are better than others. Many early cabinets have overly bright monitors with "washed out" blacks and/or have visible light "bleeding" at the edges, and this kit can make a notable improvement. The change is most noticeable on games with a black background - Asteroids, Galaga, Centipede, Tempest, Pacman, etc.
    How does this kit work?
The stock Arcade1Up LCD's backlight power supply ("inverter") doesn't offer dimming, and is run at 100% brightness - overly bright in many cases. This kit includes a new inverter (with dimming support), and new wiring harness with an adjustment knob for controlling the brightness. The adjustment control extends out the back of the monitor assembly, and hangs behind the monitor (
    standard kit
) or can be installed externally (
    deluxe kit
    ).
Can it be removed and my game returned to original condition?
Yes, the kit can easily be uninstalled and the game returned to the original configuration. The kit can later be installed in another game, if desired.
    How is it installed?
The monitor is removed from the cabinet, the mounting bracket is removed from the monitor, and the new backlight module is installed inside the monitor/bracket assembly.
    What about my Arcade1Up warranty?
Most Arcade1Up LCD assemblies have a "warranty void if removed" sticker. Legal theories vary about the enforceability of these stickers,
but you should assume that your Arcade1Up warranty will be void
